This title is a de-route on feminism in the light of Samburu tribe. The notion of invented traditions does not necessarily imply dishonesty; the process is usually much unconscious. To the women of the Samburu tribe, that which is permissible bothers on its malleability. Albeit, the 'ill-customs' of the patriachal kinship is a testament to the immediate nature of evidence to the setting of the Umoja woman. Though the past is inherently debatable, it is not an infinite and plastic symbolic resource, wholly susceptible to contemporary purposes. The past is ruled-based, and thus, forms part of the future. The patriarchal customs have not evolved over the years, but as with any cultural rule-based setting, 'anything is possible, yet not all things are permissible'.To the Umoja woman, the concluding phrase hitherto, is refuted by the actions and in-actions of the Samburu man: that which is permissible is not culturally bound, nor exclusive to the patriarchal customs. Certainly, another breed has emerged. Is the matriarchal tribe ensembled to 'umoja', in a 'village without Men'? Certainly, something must "kill a man" , would the much celebrated 'Akua'ba fertility doll' replace the Samburu man? Certainly not, it is a 'village without women'; the 'Umoja Man' from Archers Post, Kenya" Samburu County, northern Kenya, is here to stay. Is it another minority report, or yet another quest: a positive defiance? Read more
